00:00:00 Jonathan: Hey, welcome to the show. All eleven of you. It's me, Jonathan, and my good buddy Cody. Hey, my good buddy. Hey, what's going on? Um, nothing I haven't done, uh, football talk show in a minute, and there's a good reason for that. It's too depressing. Like, we we we we didn't do one after the the Texans game because we were there, and we were like, what do you want us to to say? Like we saw live Rashee rice being unable to use his hands for good. And, uh, apparently that's, you know, a common theme with him is hey, terrible at bowling. Also beats his girlfriend and can't catch footballs. Man, I don't know, Cody. I don't think he should be on the team. Probably not. Yeah, but I do have some positives about that Texans game. Um, it was warm in the suite. It was nice. And the food and the food was amazing. Yeah, and having a public bathroom in a football stadium is fucking incredible having a private bathroom, not having to go to the. Yes, I didn't you know what? That's an aspect I didn't think of because usually you have to go and pee in a trough or whatever. You know, the bills are auctioning off their troughs.

I okay, I'm gonna say this, and I don't know if John Greyson listens or is going to listen or not. Bills fans are pathetic. Like, you have literally gotten nothing from this team since the nineties, and even then you didn't get a Super Bowl win and you're still like, yeah, no bills for life. Like I get it. The only other thing up there is the Sabres in Niagara Falls. I get it. There's like some good pizza places, but I do you you're gonna buy the trough that hundreds, possibly millions of men have pissed in. You should be on a list if you even put in a dollar for a used trough from Highmark Stadium. That is so disgusting. And I'm sure it'll go for thousands of dollars. We're talking about a fan base that sets tables on fire and jumps into them. Yeah, yeah, yeah. See, this is what you have to do when you don't have any, you know, championships to show where you don't have any, like, wins to be like, hey, look. Oh, but we were the world champs thirty years ago. Even. Nope. You don't even have that. So, uh, let's start here, because we were I said yesterday or a couple days ago, I was going to send you notes. And I kept going, like, where are we going to even start?

Because we haven't done this in like a month, and I know where to start. There's been so much. Well, hold on, because I have something, I have something, okay. Uh, I saw this tweet, and I think it it's where I'm at head wise. Um, the analyst for ESPN named Benjamin Solak. Now, you watched the game last night. The Bears and Packers. Packers. Thank you. Uh, I watched the Bears and Packers last night. This is what Ben Solak said about the game. Every time I watch Caleb, I'm reminded of our total failure to calibrate to his talent level. The only QB in his stratosphere of arm talent and escapability is Josh Allen. And I'm not sure Caleb isn't more physically gifted. Still an imperfect player, but gifted beyond measure. Now, Cody, when you saw because this was written about the one specific Caleb Williams play, let's be honest, it was the fourth down play where he escapes the pocket. And then I've seen people he threw the ball while jumping in the air, and literally people have superimposed the Jumpman logo, the Nike logo, uh, the, you know, thing over him. And it does actually kind of line up when you saw him make that play.

Did you go, oh, wow, that reminded me of Josh Allen because it didn't make me think of Josh Allen. It made me think of Mahomes. My my first thought was I was going to text you and be like, you know, as much as I don't like Caleb Williams, I was a pretty good throw. That was a really good throw. And the only other human being in a football helmet I've ever seen make throws like that consistently is Patrick Mahomes, not Josh Allen. So that leads me into that stupid comparison okay. Playoffs this year. No Mahomes, no Lamar Jackson right. And no Joe Burrow. Which means Josh Allen doesn't have any excuses. Right. At what point in the what two times Joe Burrow has made the playoffs in his career? Does he get to be included in that level of greatness? I agree with you. The only thing I'll say is that Joe Burrow beat Josh Allen in twenty twenty two, so that's maybe why he's being included in that. I agree with you, though. It's dumb. He shouldn't. I've seen that sentiment over and over and over again. Patrick Mahomes up until this year. Worst finish always AFC Championship Lamar Jackson statistically in the playoffs regularly.

Which by the way, I completely agree with Harbaugh being fired because when you have Derrick Henry and you're a forty two yards out, you've got fifteen seconds left in a time out, why not hand him the ball and let him run it to give a better chance for the go ahead field goal for your kicker. But no, let's snap the ball, walk backwards, lose yardage, kneel down, take the time out. And then our rookie kicker misses it. The what the was that moron thinking? The funniest thing about that is the fact that they they kneel down in a spot to set up in a more advantageous, you know, like they were on this hash. So they, they kneeled down on that hash to make it a better kick position for the kicker. Right. If they had not kneeled down where they did say everything was the same, and the kicker kicked it the same, it would have gone through because they kneeled down. It was it was wide, right? Well, they kneeled down to the right. If they had kept it where it was at the center, it would have gone through. But yeah, John Harbaugh is not known as a special teams guy. I mean, that's not the thing that he specifically coached when he was a coach. So, uh, anyway, what back to the Ben Sulak thing.

This is what drives Chiefs fans insane is that we have to watch Patrick Mahomes make chicken salad out of chicken shit for three years and then still get told. Yeah, but you know, Josh Allen's still better. On what planet? Absolutely no one. No one who saw that Caleb Williams throw last night thought, wow, that was like a Josh Allen throw. Nobody but Ben Stokes. Like I could compare it to Mahomes. But that's kind of basic. You know what? I need to go. It's like when my my dad used to tell me this in the sixties, everybody knew the Beatles were the best band. Like everybody. It was like it was undeniable. They were everywhere. They were so popular. They were huge. They they had sold the most records and everything like that. But if you talk to, like, real musicians, they'd be like, ah, the Beatles suck. You know? The Rolling Stones are the best band. The Rolling Stones are better than the Beatles. Like, absolutely nobody thinks that today and nobody actually thought it back then. The roll. The Beatles were writing the Rolling Stones songs back. Literally. The Beatles had so many songs, they were just giving songs that they had written to the Rolling Stones.

And yeah, it was like, oh yeah, but it's the rolling Stone is because people were so tired of saying, you know who the best band is? It's the Beatles. It's obviously the Beatles. Anybody saying anybody but the Beatles is an idiot. So it's like that. It's like, well, it's kind of a basic bitch thing to say, to say it looked like Patrick Mahomes just because it looked exactly like something you see Mahomes do three fucking times a game. To the point where who else has ever been compared to the Nike logo? It was Mahomes in the the twenty twenty two Bengals game where he jumped over the line of scrimmage. Do you remember that? Yeah. Where he like like basically dunked the ball over the line of scrimmage. It was awesome. It was one of the greatest players of all time. Yeah. Uh Josh Allen has won MVP. And he got it out of pity. He had the worst stats of anybody who's ever won MVP comparative to other people in the league. The only reason he won it it was like, well, we can't give it to Lamar again. Like, come on. Because, you know, he's gonna fizzle out in the, the the playoffs. Unlike Josh Allen who always goes to the Super Bowl apparently. Um, yeah.

Forget Mahomes who went to three straight. Yeah I mean we're I petty I would say it's racism, but I'm not I'm not doing that. I but I do think there's a little I'm just sorry I'm just a little bit of that there. Like Josh Allen. Looks like when you were growing up what a quarterback looks like. Like a big, strong white guy. Like that's just, you know, other than Randall Cunningham, uh, or Warren Moon, you're like, yeah. Yeah. That's what a that's what a quarterback looks like. Big, strong, chiseled jaw white dude. That's I mean I'm not I'm not saying that's where Ben Solo is coming from. I think that he's coming from the well I'm an ESPN analyst. So I need to say something interesting all the time. So and you know what? If it makes people angry. All the better. That's good. That's my best impersonation, by the way. Dude, if if, if we want to talk about quarterbacks who are doing miraculous things, let's talk about Sam Darnold, who had an absolute stellar record with the Vikings for a season, then moves on, goes to the Seahawks and gets the number one seed in the NFC. Yeah, on an entirely different team and an entirely different scheme. Nobody talks about him.

But no, we focus on Josh Allen, who's been with the same team for years and hasn't accomplished shit. Yeah, yeah. Uh, which they're are they playing at noon. Is that Jacksonville? Okay. So they. Yeah. Yeah. Go. Jaguars go. Honestly, uh, the Jaguars are favored to win Cody. People don't realize this because everybody's talking about how the bills are just going to run them over. Because Josh Allen doesn't lose on Wild Card Weekend. Um, yeah. The Jaguars are actually favored by a point and a half. So and the money line is for the Jaguars. I was like, I haven't really been betting that much this year because on top of the Chiefs losing, I didn't also want to lose money. But I was curious last night what the lines were, and I was like, wait, the Jaguars are favored to win on the money line? Okay, cool. Um, anyway, and it's not to say that Josh Allen isn't a good, uh, amazing. Not just good. He's an amazing quarterback. He's phenomenal. It's just annoying that he gets talked about like he's in this pantheon of gods and you know, and I know that if and it's a huge if because I, I also I think they're gonna lose today but it's a huge if if he makes it to the Super Bowl not even wins.

If he makes it to the Super Bowl that he's going to be talked about as already there's going I'm telling you right now, Cody, there's going to be somebody who will say that he is already eclipsed what Patrick Mahomes has done. There's going to be somebody out there with that take because they'll say, well, he never missed the playoffs. He never missed the playoffs. He never went out you know injured for the season. You know. So he's just more durable than Patrick Mahomes I think that you know this is just the beginning of his legacy. So yeah I'm willing to say right now that he's already done more in his career than Patrick Mahomes has because, you know, for some reason he kept losing in the playoffs. But that wasn't his fault. Thirteen seconds wasn't his fault. Uh, last year totally wasn't his fault. That was the refs. The refs not giving him first down. Um, and it was also Kincaid not catching the ball that was thrown, you know, into the stadium lights. And it would have been impossible for almost anybody to catch. And, uh, you know, when they lost in twenty twenty and the AFC Championship game, that wasn't Josh Allen.

Uh, if the refs had just let him throw the ball at the Chiefs heads, you know, he would have won if that was considered a completion, we should change the rules that if the quarterback is lying on the ground and he throws the ball at the opposing player's face, that should count as a completion. Well, if we just change the rules to make Josh Allen the best player in the league, he'll be the best player in the league. Well, I mean, hasn't it been what the last two seasons? They've got some type of rule change. They got the overtime rule change for one. Yeah. And then what was the other one they got. The other one is the um uh spotting the ball, the whatever it's called. And both of those were results to loss to Kansas City, if I recall correctly. Yeah. Uh, to be fair, the, the the rule change for spotting the ball was apparently not a bills thing like that. That was if I might be wrong. But, uh, I don't think that was a bills thing. I think that was going to happen anyway. And it just happened to coincide with it. But regardless, they got the overtime rules changed for Josh IBU. Um, anyway, all right.

So let's let's just talk about I don't know the postmortem on the season and where we're at head wise. Uh, I, I used to I used to say that losing the Super Bowl, um, hurts more than not making the playoffs. That there are there are there are reason why if you lose a Super Bowl, it's so devastating is because teams who whose are fans of teams who didn't even make the playoffs will dunk on you for. And they're like, well, if we had made it, we wouldn't have been that bad. If fans of teams, hell, even players on the bills last year were saying, you know, I'm not saying the Chiefs didn't deserve to be there. I'm just saying if we'd have been there, that wouldn't have happened to us. We wouldn't have gotten destroyed by the Eagles like that. And now that we've had a season where we didn't even make the playoffs, Mahomes went out injured. All that stuff. Um, forget not making the playoffs. We were eliminated early in December. That was a long month. Fair. I, uh, I have to say that not making the playoffs hurts way more. And the reason why is because I have pride. It hurts way more than not. Than not winning the Super Bowl way more.

Like, I don't know what people are talking about when they say shit like that. I would much rather lose in the Super Bowl than than not make the playoffs. And I can't imagine anybody who is a reasonable person with dignity and shame and pride thinking otherwise. But maybe I'm wrong. Cody. Go ahead. You look like. No, dude, this this is just. We knew it could have happened eventually. Look, even Tom Brady wasn't perfect. Um, that's that's the other thing that pisses me off, too. Like, Tom Brady didn't make the Super Bowl every single year. He was a player. And all of a sudden, Kansas City sucks. The dynasty is over. It's the Broncos time to shine. And like, dude, it was one bad season, which after discussions last night, I completely blame a specific insurance company for. Um, well, yeah, we'll get to that in a minute. Uh, but nah. Dude, this this sucked like we for. First off, it gives me a whole new appreciation for Mahomes. Like watching those last couple of games getting beat by the Raiders, getting beat by the Titans. Like, just. Dude, you don't realize how much Mahomes actually does for this team. See? And you're like. It's amazing.

So where I'm at with that, with Mahomes being out is I. I do feel like once Mahomes went out, they were like, we're done. We're fucked. The rest of the season is done. Like, we're not even gonna try. Um, I don't think that that was the case against the Titans. I think when they went to play the Titans, Minshew went out and uh, after what, the first series and then it was early in the game. But, you know, uh, Xavier Worthy was still playing, I think rice. Rice was out there the end of the year with the concussion. Right. And Thornton was as well. Half of our team was on IR in the last game. The thing that doomed us. And it's like people keep going like, well, what happened? Like, did we get exposed by the. No. You know what happened? Our offensive line was down to not second, not third, but fourth stringers. Like there was no protection holding up for Mahomes. Like none. And that's why he looked fine in the the Cowboys game. Or look didn't just look fine. He looked great in the Cowboys game and every other game. It was terrible because when you go against the Texans and you know not that he's a bad player. I think as a pole is good, but he wasn't.

He you know, he didn't think he was going to be starting this year at any point. Um, and we lost. Wasn't that the game where we lost one Morris on the first play. First play. Yeah. So no, I mean I it's not a mystery what happened. Injuries killed us this year more than they have in years before. I also wanted to say this though, like all of this hand-wringing about how much we sucked this year. Don't get me wrong, I'm not going to sit here and justify only winning six games. But outside of the Titans game, we didn't lose any game by more than one score. Yeah. So you know we and it was the flip of last year where it seemed like every game we won we won by one score. Very I think there was only three or four games last year that we won by more than one score. Uh, point is the Texans game, if you count the playoffs, should have been won. Except for we did that safety thing at the end to get better field position. Um, so I, I just I think there's going to be a lot and I've heard a lot of talk about how much we suck this year and how terrible we were. And, you know, we we a huge letdown of a season. Don't get me wrong, it was all of that is true.

But it wasn't like they were getting blown out every game. It wasn't like we were getting destroyed. Like the Raiders were every game we they had, they ended the season with a positive point differential, despite the fact that they only won six games. That's not bad. Not only did we lose competitively for lack of a better term, we were without wide receiver one for six games. Yeah. Um, I'm not even going to talk about his name right now. I don't even know how to feel about that situation. I will say, uh, I don't know if anything's going to happen with that. It's up to his girlfriend to keep that going. She deleted the post, right? See? And that's exactly what I said. When. When you texted me about it, I was like, we've seen this with till. You said we've seen it with worthy. I am going to reserve judgment until we know what's up. I don't think that he's innocent. No, I don't I don't think he's innocent. I think he's I and, you know, you met him and I know you had a very positive interaction with Rashee Rice, but I don't think he's innocent. I think he totally did that shit. I think that she's afraid of him. And so she deleted the post.

I'm not going to say something one way or the other. Yeah, I, I don't know anything about it. I didn't even know about it until you told me. And even then, I still kind of had a Google search for it. I'm going to reserve judgment until more information comes out. But the problem is, man, there's no good way to say this. You see so many times where people get attacked on both sides of it. Sometimes it's real, sometimes it's not. And you don't know in AI, in social media and everything makes it so easy to fabricate stuff and and spin things out of control. I mean, look at what happened with Arisa. Arisa got blamed and got cut. I mean, I mean, I get what you're saying, I don't that didn't look, that wasn't AI like that. I can you can it. You can tell the difference between something that's fabricated and something that's not. And I, I mean, look, he's not a good person. He's just not been he in college, this same girl, uh, he was cheating on him or or they had some kind of thing, or he thought that she was cheating on him. He went to the guy's car and put a bunch of bullet holes in it with a gun. Obviously, that would be weird if you just, like, took a hammer and Like that.

That's exactly. No, he shot it up. And for some reason, it didn't face criminal charges over that. But it was something that was well known about him in the draft. And that's why, despite the fact that he's a really good receiver, he dropped so far in the draft. Yeah. Uh, and then the, the speeding stuff is honestly of all of this, that's the most inexcusable. It's like, yeah, he's an idiot kid. And he was just showing off his friends, and he didn't mean to hurt anybody. He just. He just did something dumb. Uh, I, I don't know, I while you are reserving judgment, I'm I'm. And I'm totally fine with that. To me, he's lost the benefit of the doubt. On top of that, he sucked this year. I'm like, yeah, you know, I don't that shouldn't matter in this discussion. But unfortunately, because we're talking about a football player, it kind of does because when the stuff was happening with Tyreke, we were like, okay, God damn it, that's gonna really suck to lose him next year if we don't have rice next year. I don't really see that as that huge of a loss, considering he was dog shit for most of this year and we won two Super Bowls without Tyreek Hill. Yeah, um that's true.

Yeah I will say this though I do believe the Chiefs need to move on from him. Uh, the real or not, the negative stigma that comes with him is is too much. See if the Dolphins will take him. Now the Dolphins I hear are trying to give us Tyreek back. I don't that would be hilarious if we straight up traded Rashee rice for Tyreek Hill. Well I think I think Hill's contract is up. So he's free to go wherever he wants to this season. Unless they franchise tag him which who's going to franchise tag a thirty one year old wide receiver that just came off of a knee injury. The Dolphins maybe maybe the maybe the Browns or Jets um I anyway, and it's funny when we all the talk about the Chiefs next year I don't hear that very often. But I think there's some truth to that. I think that there's a good chance that Tyreek Hill winds up back on the team. Unless Mahomes Specifically does not want him on the team. Yeah, you know what I mean? Like, the only way that doesn't happen is, well, obviously, if Andy doesn't want him, but Andy doesn't seem like he's. Andy doesn't seem to make decisions based on character. He seems to be like, I can fix that. Andy is the ultimate, like, uh, sad girlfriend.

She's like, oh, he's broken, but I can fix him. Just let me let me have him. Let me get him under my tutelage for a little bit. And look if Tyreek Hill's available and Travis Kelce wants to try for one more season. He may be like let's get the boys back together for one final hurrah. Yeah the dream team back together. See if Sammy Watkins out there somewhere. Can Sammy Watkins play. How about Mitch Morse? I know Creed is pretty good at center. Can we get Mitch Morse under center? But. But to go back to my point, we were without wide receiver one for six games. Yeah. We're worthy. Went down on the first drive and we were without him for three games. Um, we have been without most of our O-line. Um, Josh Simmons personal reasons. Um, was out for, what, four weeks, give or take four or five weeks, wasn't it four or five? Yeah, it was, it was. It was definitely a long one. It was if you included the buy in that I think it was like five. Yeah. Yeah. So I mean we were we the Chiefs this year. Um I don't know. Well I keep going back to what I, I kept saying last year and it was if they win the Super Bowl, they should just take next year off.

And I kind of feel like they split the difference on that where they're like, oh, hey, we didn't win the Super Bowl and we're not going to take next year off, but let's just not do a good job. Like let's just come in like let's just half ass it. Only win six games. Uh, get eleven losses. Yeah. Let's just do that. Get higher draft picks. What are they picking at nine right now? Uh, I think eight. Eight. Wow. Yeah. Uh, and I think after we lost to the Raiders we actually went up to eight C. And it's a thing I keep seeing with Chiefs fans too is blaming Veach for this stuff. And it's like, I don't know how well he's supposed to do as a GM when he that you're picking so low all the time in the draft, like the, you know, you can point to the sustained success that the Patriots had, but they had up and down years too. And they that I mean honestly let's let's go over that Patriots dynasty and talk about all of the amazing draft picks. They their best transaction was Randy Moss which wasn't a draft pick. He just didn't want to play for the Raiders anymore. So they drafted him or they they I mean they traded for him and got him over on on the Patriots. Um, you know Wes Welker was a trade.

Uh, I guess Gronk was drafted, but they also drafted Aaron Hernandez. So, you know, uh, not everything is, is, uh, a home run. But Veach had such an amazing draft class in twenty two that I trust him to do it again. I think that they do need to make. I think they'll probably trade McDuffie for some picks and maybe unload rice and see see what they can get for rice. But if I was another team, I'd be like, I'm not taking him. He can get suspended at any time. And if this stuff with his girlfriend comes back up or holds true, then he's going to jail. Like, I mean, he's still got to go to jail anyways. Well, I know he's like thirty days or whatever, but if he is, he's on probation. He is credibly accused of beating his girlfriend in that time. He's going to jail for a while. So, uh. yeah. Anyway. And and, you know, speaking of which, I've seen a lot of talk and I pray to God. This is from the fair weather fans. And if it is, get off now. Be done with it. Yeah. I've seen calls for Veitch's job this season. I've seen calls for Andy Reid's job. That's so stupid. These two guys have brought us three Super Bowl wins. Yeah, in the last five, six years.

Um, I mean, like, we wouldn't have it with them. Yeah. Shut your mouths. Now you want to fire someone? I've said it a thousand times. Get rid of Nagy. Which? His contract is up. They're firing him. Yeah, yeah, he's. He's interviewing with, like, twenty teams now. Titans, keep your ding dong beaters off. Spags. I know you interviewed him, but no, you can't have him. He's ours. I, I don't really care if Spags leaves either. I'm sorry. I don't like what. What? Let's let's talk about it real quick, because it seems like Spags does a really great job. Except for the defense. looked. The defense looked worse when Mahomes wasn't playing, because you don't have somebody giving you those sustained drives. That gives the other team less time to make it work. And Mahomes is just a calculating genius when it came to okay, I need and the best third down quarterback of all time easily easily like you look at his percentages on third down. He's the best third down quarterback of all time. Uh, getting those sustained drives really matters for the defense. And without him, they're just not as good. I love Spags, don't get me wrong.

And it would be hard to find a defensive coordinator that's of his caliber, except Dave Merritt, who's on the team already, because the best part of the Chiefs defense for the last three or four years has been their defensive backs. Dave Merritt's the defensive backs coach. Let's see what he can do as defensive coordinator. I think he'd do a great job. Uh, again, I don't want Spags to leave necessarily, but I'm not. I know a lot of people are, like, upset about the idea of him leaving and like, the defense has not been the reason for success. Mahomes is the only quarterback who's ever won the Super Bowl when the opposing team scored thirty five points. The only one. And he did that in twenty twenty two against the Eagles. Um, he's the only one who's had to had to lead. He got the lead in the fourth quarter. Then the defense gave up the lead. And then he had to tie the game and then go to overtime where the defense still gave up three points. And then he had to win the game with a touchdown. He's the only one who's ever had to win Super Bowls like that. So don't. I'm sorry. It makes Mahomes even more special. Yeah.

But it's funny to me because of the Brady stands out there who will insist Brady's the greatest like really. Let's let's go over some of Brady's Super Bowl wins. Uh Seahawks. Oh remember when Tom Brady intercepted that ball at the goal line. That would have been a guaranteed fucking touchdown if they'd just hand it off to Marshawn Lynch. But instead, for some reason they threw it. Yeah. Great job by Tom Brady throwing that ball or catching that ball. Um you beat the Rams thirteen to three. Wow wow that game sucked. Worst Super Bowl of all time. Everybody hate hated it. Everybody was miserable during that game. Uh I'll give you the first Rams win in two thousand and one because he had the game winning drive for the field goal. But without Vinatieri a big deal. Uh, and you only are in that game because the refs did the tuck rule against the Raiders. Should have been the Raiders in that game. Like I never mind I don't want to rehash Tom Brady's career, but there's so many of his Super Bowls where you're like, if Mahomes had that defense they would have won by thirty points. Anyway. Uh, we can talk about the coaching carousel real quick.

Uh, something I saw that that kind of upset me today. My pick for offensive coordinator when Nagy because Nagy is not coming back. My my pick for offensive coordinator is Scheelhaase, who is, uh, the Rams passing game coordinator. He's been talked a lot about in circles as far as offensive coordinator for a bunch of teams, but he's from, uh, Missouri specifically went to Rockhurst in Kansas City. I think that he'd be a great choice for us if you watched the the way the Rams do their passing game. It's not it is like an upgrade of Andy's scheme. So there's a lot of like cool motion, a lot of really neat like interesting screens and all sorts of stuff like that. Uh, I think that would be a good fit for us. The depressing thing is the Browns are currently interviewing Scheelhaase for head coach. Oh, let's be real. The Browns are going to go. Nepotism in prime time is going to get that job. I didn't think about that. If he wants it, I don't know that he wants that job. Oh. Any chance to coach his baby boy? Why not? Oh, man. You're right. Because the Browns will always make. You can always rely on them to make the worst decision. Absolutely. That's why.

That's why he slipped so far in the draft class. Because whoever drafted him, they knew they were going to end up getting stuck with Prime as their coach at one point or another. I would if I was scheelhaase, I would much rather come be the offensive coordinator under Andy Reid. He's only thirty five years old, so I'd much rather come be the offensive coordinator under Andy Reid, do a good enough job, and then you get to be the head coach when Andy retires and you get to coach Patrick Mahomes for the last five years of his career. Like, I think that that's a much better deal than going to the Browns as head coach, but I'm not in the guy's head. Obviously money, prestige, all that stuff would matter more. Okay. What do you think about the rumors of, uh Bieniemy, who is currently the running backs coach for the bears, who are seeing an unprecedented, unexpected level of success. Um, what do you think about him coming back for OC? Because the rumor is he would be open to it if he was presented the opportunity. I don't like it. Um, because I don't think what we need. Okay? We do need a hard ass.

If he wants to come back as a running backs coach or even the wide receivers coach, if we just need somebody to, you know, to get in these guys heads and, you know, scream at them and hold them accountable. Even if he's not a white even if he doesn't know anything about wide receivers, whatever, fine. Bring him back. Or just, uh, an assistant like offensive coordinator assistant or something like that. What we need is somebody with fresh ideas about the scheme. Because if you saw the Chiefs games this year, so many times, the the defense knew exactly what we were doing because the scheme was stale, we could not get open against man. Um, it was bad. It was just so god awful. And it's why Mahomes was injured. It's because he had to keep scrambling around to get guys open. The only way guys were getting open is if Mahomes left the pocket to get him open, and that that cannot happen next year, literally, because he's going to be in a brace for the first four or five games. He needs to be able to be a pocket passer. And one good thing about Scheelhaase is Matt Stafford isn't very mobile anymore. And but if you think of Matt Stafford.

Without the ability to run, that's basically Patrick Mahomes in a brace, right? I mean, the arm angles, the no look passes, all that stuff. So I think that I really hope it's scheelhaase. I don't need an Eric Bieniemy. Yes. Would the accountability? Sure. That's not all that was missing from the offense this year. It was poor scheme and not developing the guys enough. Um, and it's funny to me that this fan base, who everybody was celebrating after the Super Bowl when Eric Bieniemy left after we won against the Eagles, everybody was so happy. Oh no more Eric, because we just assumed whoever came in next would be better. No. And then Nagy came back and came in for three years. For three years. And it's and we just put up with it because they kept going to the Super Bowl. And I just part of me genuinely wishes that we hadn't beaten. I don't actually wish this. It's like twenty eighty But part of me, twenty percent goes, man, if we'd had just lost to the Ravens in the AFC Championship game, or even know if we'd have lost to the Niners, they still would have been like, no, we're running it back. We made it to the Super Bowl.

But I think if we'd have lost to the Ravens in the AFC Championship game in twenty three, I think they would have been like this season sucked. Like Nagy does not know what he's doing and there's no, if nothing else, Connor Embree, the wide receivers coach, should have been gone when guy your one job, one job is to make sure that when the ball is thrown to them, they catch it. There is nothing else that a wide receivers coach does. That is more important than that because they're not that involved in scheme. That is the offensive passing game coordinator and the offensive coordinator that your job as a coach is to make sure that one, they know where the sideline is, which apparently Xavier worthy in year two still didn't know and two. When the ball is thrown to them, it doesn't just bounce off their hands. You put them in front of a jugs machine until their hands are sore. Uh, anyway, uh, yeah, I, I there's a lot of other interesting Kliff Kingsbury. I still think that that would be better than the enemy. I, I don't like that. And my reasoning is, is because he has history with Mahomes and we don't need somebody who would. Yeah. I'm tired of the best friend. Yeah, yeah.

We don't want someone who's buddy buddy. We want someone who can come in with fresh ideas, who can hold our offense accountable. And I also don't like it because Kliff used to be a head coach. And it would worry me that if he does come in and the Chiefs are good, and by good, I mean back to the level they were, um, in the early twenty twenties. Which seems impossible now. But if he came back and they were good, then Andy could retire and then Kliff Kingsbury would take over the team. I don't I don't like that. I don't like that. Though there is an interesting thing right now, and this could happen where Kliff Kingsbury could be our OC and you know who could be the backup quarterback? Who? Kyler Murray, because he's available right now. And look, he was not good. I'm not going to say that he was a great quarterback, but I think he's a better choice than any of the quarterbacks we've had at backup for the last couple of years. I didn't think Minshew was the Mahomes era. Minshew wasn't. Minshew wouldn't have been that bad. I don't know. I we make a lot. We make some excuses for Minshew because, you know, he he broke his knee or whatever the hell happened.

It wasn't his torn ACL, whatever that was that happened to him. But I'll never forget the fact that we could have won that Chargers game. We could have at least kicked the field goal, but he threw an interception. could have at least gone to overtime. Here's the last thing I want to talk about as far as the Chiefs this year is. It's a debate I've been having with people, and I'm I'm already done with it. The Chiefs were not eliminated when Patrick Mahomes went down with that torn ACL. I've already seen, and maybe it's just because I have a lot of Patriots and a lot of people from New England and Boston in my feed. Um, because of, you know, having worked there and stuff, the Chiefs were not eliminated when Mahomes tore his ACL. They had they won that game and Mahomes had not torn his ACL. They were going to then go play the Titans. Then the Broncos and then. The Raiders right. Yeah. So those games, if they had finished with four straight wins, they would have been ten and seven had they been ten and seven. There's there's no team in the AFC right now that wouldn't have made the playoffs at ten and seven. So they would have made the playoffs.

Uh do you think if Mahomes doesn't tear his ACL they win those last three games. The hardest one is the Broncos. But we almost beat the Broncos without Mahomes right. I mean there's definitely a chance. Um. But but people are already saying, well, Mahomes was eliminated from the playoffs because they need this. This pathetic Brady fans need this because their whole thing is, you know, what's the craziest stat about Tom Brady? He never took a snap while eliminated from the playoffs, unlike Mahomes. Mahomes wasn't eliminated from the playoffs. Whether you say that it was likely that he was going to be eliminated or not. They were not eliminated when he took that snap and then tore his ACL. They weren't. Nope. Like maybe their chances were down to seventeen percent. But had they won the game, their chances went up to forty five percent. So and it's just it's annoying for any. Yeah. For anyone who. Now granted it's Chiefs fans. We we do have that uh, that world is the world is ending thing. When Mahomes goes down we're like, yeah, that's the season right there. But um the Eagles you know Nick Foles was a back up quarterback. He won the Super Bowl.

Um Brock Osweiler with the Broncos when Peyton Manning went down. He led the charge to the playoffs and then got completely screwed I think they did him dirty. But then when he went to the Texans he absolutely sucked ass. So I find that there's something about a seven foot three quarterback that doesn't like, uh, that always. He's the exact terrifying there. Yeah he was way I don't I didn't think you could be too tall at quarterback. But that seemed like his problem. He would overthrow guys constantly because he was just way too tall and Kyler Murray can't. Kyler Murray can't hit his receivers because he can't see over his O line. Oh no wait, that's Tua, isn't it? A quick math problem? How many Kyler Murray's would you need to stack up on shoulder on shoulder to make one? Brock Osweiler. I think two and a half. It's two and a half right it seems. I know it's legitimately maybe one and a quarter, but it seems like it would at least be two and a half. Anyway um yeah I don't know. Season's over. I'm happy that it's over. Uh, I, uh, ironically, when Mahomes went down and we found out it was a torn ACL, I wasn't that upset. Because the only reason why is, is I felt like for him. Okay.

Your sufferings over, buddy. You know, just just go rehab. Just take some time off. Just be with your family. You don't. You don't need to be a part of this anymore. You know, like you fought the good fight. And now now you're. Your watch has ended. Like, just just go. Just go home to Brittany. Rehab. Get better for next year. And next year we're going to go blow them out of the water. We're going to be great next year. And honestly, that's the other thing too. If I have faith in any team to reset, it's the Chiefs. It's the Chiefs. Every time they've every time they missed the Super Bowl under Mahomes, they reset the next year and went on to kill teams I mean well all right. To be fair they lost they lost the Super Bowl. Well hold on okay. Yeah. Let's talk about when they lost the Super Bowl. They didn't reset very well. Uh in twenty twenty they went into twenty twenty one and sucked twenty four. They lose the Super Bowl in sucking twenty five. That's fair. But when they didn't make the Super Bowl in twenty eighteen, they fired Bob Sutton. They brought in a ton of new guys on defense, Frank Clark and and the honey badger and got rid of Dee Ford, all that stuff.

Um, and then uh, and it's sad about differed by the way, because that one play so defines his career. I was watching an old game from like twenty fifteen, and I was like, he was really good. You mean the one good D Ford actually was the one where he was offsides and negated an interception. You know, that counts way more. I know, I understand that counts for way more than getting half a sack against the Texans back in the playoff game in twenty fifteen. I get it. But he it's I feel bad for him at this point. I feel bad for him. My point is after they lost after they didn't make the Super Bowl in twenty nineteen, they reset. They fired everybody. Uh, when they didn't make the Super Bowl in twenty twenty one, they traded Tyreke. They got used that to get a shitload of new draft picks. They um that's it. That's that's good enough, though. I mean, but it did feel like a brand new team in twenty twenty two. I'm very interested to see what they're going to look like, because I do trust them to do what they need to do in the off season to reset. It's gonna. I mean, if there's one good thing about this is usually the off seasons are really boring for us as Chiefs fans.

I've never really cared about the draft. But now I'm all in it. Like, I don't know, I think I could go a defensive edge for pick number eight. If Baines still there, why wouldn't we take him? No. Well, that was actually my next question was going to be what position do you think we take? Not necessarily player, but what position do you take with your first pick? Um, so I a lot of people are saying running back there's Breece Hall is available at free Agent. Uh, so is, uh, Rico Dowdle. There's some really good running backs. I think our running back room was so horrendous that we don't realize that we were just one good free agent pick away From having a sustained good run game. Uh, so I don't think that we need to to do it on a running back. I think especially if we get Breece Hall or Rick O'Donnell. Um, for that, uh, I, I would be fine with defensive edge. I do not want it to be on offensive line. I we we've invested enough in O-line. We it's the most expensive offensive line in the league. And Josh Simmons will be back. He'll be healthy on the right. We'll have uh more. And then you got Trey Smith, Creed and Kingsley. Uh, guard guards and center I don't why do we need more?

Why don't we get to cut Taylor this year finally. Yes. Taylor's gone after this year. Yeah. So Jalen Moore, Jalen Moore, Trey Smith and Creed and then Kingsley and Josh Simmons on the left I think that that's that's a really good offensive line. So long as they can stay healthy, that's a good O-line. Um, so I don't I don't want to see them put it in there. I would honestly, I know it's crazy, but if Bane is available at eight, I would take him. Good, good. We because it does affect I know it's easy to say it doesn't matter that how the offense plays doesn't affect defense and defense doesn't affect offense. That's bullshit. It obviously does. And one of the biggest problems I would say more than anything else this year, the reason they couldn't win is because we could not get to the quarterback. I know it's easy to blame it on the offense, but the offense wasn't worse this year than they were last year. The difference was when it fucking mattered. We could not get to the quarterback when it mattered. We couldn't stop the other team.

The season was lost when, not when, Mahomes tore his ACL, But when the Chargers, before halftime in that game, were able to just march down the field and get an easy touchdown. And our defense couldn't do anything to stop them. You all the time used to freak out any time we were. It was third down and anything. Yeah dude our third downs like I and that's pass rush. If it's third and seven and you have no faith that your team is going to stop it, it's because you can't get to the quarterback. If you can get to the quarterback, then third and long is a death sentence for the other team. How many times did we watch it where it was like third and fifteen and they still and we're like, yeah, damn it. Yeah. No we like. So I would actually I and you know I whether rice is back or not I don't know. Um I if it was me, I'd sign Thornton. Um, make sure he doesn't leave the building, use him more. Have a coach have a good wide receivers coach come in. If it's scheelhaase as OC who can work with him or I don't know. I don't know anything about wide receiver coaching. I don't know.

But coach up Xavier worthy and hopefully you know he got he has a surgery and he's one hundred percent at the beginning of next year because he was there was a fall off for him from last year. Right. I mean he was not the same player year over year. Uh, I don't I don't know, maybe there's I looked at the free agent market for wide receivers. They're not great. So I would also invest a couple of draft picks in wide receiver Jalen Royal's. We didn't really see much of him. Maybe he maybe he can be something. Um, and if Tyreke comes back that's not a terrible wide receiver room you know. Yeah I uh I know as far as players go I don't see rice coming back. Um you either Either the Chiefs cut him under a conduct policy clause or he just t ends up arrested or whatever. I don't see him coming back. Also, um, a lot of things that people don't realize. Pacheco's contract is up. Yeah. I mean, he's. No. He's gone. Yeah. He's. I don't think he comes back. I think he's I think he's done for his career because, I mean, maybe he'll be a backup somewhere, but, like, who's gonna take him? He, uh, he was good for. And his best.

The best thing he ever did was in twenty twenty two, towards the end of the season, he really stepped up in the running back room. The best. The thing I'll always remember and be grateful for Pacheco for was in twenty twenty two, in the Jaguars game, in the playoffs, where Mahomes went out because of a high ankle sprain. And we started at the one yard line and it was Kelce and Pacheco led us down to the end zone. That. That I'll never forget. Like that. That is. And he was great in the Super Bowl. I don't know about great, but he he played really well in the Super Bowl as well after that. He's never been as good. Uh, he's certainly a fun player to watch. But I'm not I'm not gonna miss seeing him. I'm not going to miss seeing him like you could in his head. Go. Okay, I cut left here, and maybe I get a touchdown. But you know what would be fun? To just run straight into that guy. Like, I'm gonna run straight into the defender who I'm. I'm not gonna miss that. After the knee injury, he just. He wasn't the same. But that was one thing you can count on, man. He'd run through a steel door. He looked, he invited and looked forward to contact.

And that's not something you that's gonna lead to longevity or sustain success. So, uh. All right, that's a show. Cody, what's going on at Akins PC repair? Well, um. We are. We have revamped our, uh, peace of mind plan. We called it our residential plan. Now we call it our peace of mind plan. Um, I'm sure many of you know, uh, AI, I talk about this as a necessary evil. AI can be helpful in many things. AI can also be devastating in many things. And right now it is devastating to the Ram and hard drive market. A sixty four gig of Ram now costs more than a PlayStation. It's ridiculous. How much for contrast? How much did it used to cost? Uh, I think I used to pay, like for sixty four gigs of Ram one hundred and fifty, two hundred bucks, maybe. And now it's like four times that. It's I mean, kits are getting up there six, seven hundred bucks. It's insane. Um, and some of the data centers have, like, crucial has pulled out of the consumer market entirely. Now, um, they were who I got most of my Ram and hard drives from because they were affordable for my customers. Right now, repairs that were costing two hundred bucks a pop are now costing three hundred and fifty.

The peace of mind plan is one hundred and fifty bucks a year, or fifteen dollars a month, and that covers all the labor on your computer for the year and the cyber security. Awesome. So if something happens to your machine, you're only paying for parts. That helps absorb that. For example, I charge one hundred and twenty five bucks for a reload. That's automatically added on a hard drive replacement. So if you come in because your hard drive shot, that peace of mind plan is going to cover one hundred and twenty five dollars a year repair. That's amazing. Um, so there's so much that can go wrong with your computers. Uh, so many people got maybe new computers over the holidays or you're starting off the new year, you know, worried about what's what the year will bring. You gotta have at least some peace of mind. I go to PC repair. Com get the peace of mind plan. Aikens PC repair dot com.
